Special Tips for Vacation Week Visits

Visiting during Massachusetts school vacation week? Although our facilities are very crowded during this peak time, these tips can help make your visit enjoyable:

  • Book early to ensure space availability for requested times.
  • Call ahead to Science Central to make sure your reservation is complete and accurate: 617-723-2500.
  • Arrive early in the day (before 10:30 a.m.) or later in the afternoon (after 3:00 p.m.) to avoid the crowds, and take advantage of our extended vacation week hours. Check our hours page for complete details.
  • Study the Museum map (PDF) to plan your day ahead of time.
  • Allow additional time to pick up your tickets and arrive well in advance of scheduled show times.
  • Try to visit the Riverview Café during off-peak lunch hours (before 11:30 a.m. or after 2:00 p.m.). To make it easier to find seating, try splitting into small groups and eating in shifts.
  • Ensure that younger group members stay with adult chaperones throughout their visit.

Please note: due to the high volume of guests, we cannot accommodate school field trip reservations during all Massachusetts public school vacation periods.
