Engineering Education for Innovation Act (E2) Gains Steam
October 06, 2010
In February, New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and House Representative Paul Tonko introduced the first legislation promoting K-12 engineering education in core academic classrooms. The E2 legislation (H.R.4709 and S.3043) will provide states with planning, implementation and evaluation grants to infuse engineering into K-12 classroom instruction. This will help states meet new standards and future assessments in technology and engineering. As of August, the bills had 16 and 11 cosponsors, respectively, including members of the education committees. More cosponsors are needed to increase the possibility of enactment. You can help by asking your members of Congress to cosponsor the bill.
