The Massachusetts STEM Council has endorsed the Museum of Science's Gateway to Technology and Engineering project as a scalable model for advancing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education. Also used in Maine and Texas, the project, created by the Museum's National Center for Technological Literacy®, guides STEM-based educational reform via district-wide systemic change.

PBS's DESIGN SQUAD NATION Hosts Invention Convention at Museum
In October, DESIGN SQUAD NATION challenged young people to design and build their own inventions, testing them at the Museum of Science, Boston. Show hosts Nate Ball and Deysi Melgar highlighted kids' creations and the Museum unveiled a new Design Challenge. The Museum is also developing a new middle school Engineering Now curriculum featuring DESIGN SQUAD NATION.

 Engineering is Elementary Goes to NYC
To help elementary school teachers integrate engineering into New York City's curriculum, instruction and assessment, the Harlem Schools Partnership (HSP) for STEM Education at Columbia University's Teachers College turned to the Museum of Science's Engineering is Elementary®. The HSP team will provide support to introduce EiE this year.

Museum of Science Convenes 100Kin10 Organizations
In September, some 30 organizations of the 100Kin10 movement met at the Museum of Science to learn how to create effective partnerships with school systems and each other addressing STEM education. 100Kin10 was launched in 2011 to recruit, prepare, and retain 100,000 STEM teachers in 10 years.

High School Engineering Design Films Win Awards
Two films produced by Lawrence Klein Productions for the Museum of Science have won awards: InvenTeens: A High School Engineering Design Challenge received a 2012 CINE Golden Eagle and a 2012 Silver Telly; Hands-On Minds-On: Bringing Engineering Design to High School Classrooms was awarded a 2012 Bronze Telly.
