White House Highlights Museum of Science's Early STEM Education CurriculumPresident Obama Calls for Computer Science, So Does Museum of Science

On April 21, the Museum of Science, Boston's new engineering curriculum for preschool andkindergarten (PreK-K) was highlighted at the first-ever White House Early STEM Learning Symposium. The Museum is investing $425,000 in the three-year initiative to create a PreK-K engineering curriculumfor ages 3 to 5, building on the success of its Engineering is Elementary® curriculum.

First National Technology-Engineering Assessment Results May 17

The results of the first-ever National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) for Technology and Engineering Literacy (TEL) will be released May 17. Since 2009, the NCTL has advocated for this technology and engineering assessment. On June 16 we will co-host a congressional briefing with the National Assessment Governing Board and STEM Congressional Caucus to discuss next steps.

Museum of Science to Create New STEM Curricula for NASA Project

The Museum of Science is collaborating to create space-themed STEM resources for out-of-school time programs. Supported by NASA's Science Mission Directorate and led by Northern Arizona University's Center for Science Teaching and Learning, a $1.3 million sub-award to the Museum's Engineering is Elementary® project supports developing three units integrating planetary science with technology and engineering as well as a research component executed by the Museum.

Museum, AIR Worldwide Bring Engineering to Boston Schools
President Obama Calls for Computer Science, So Does Museum of Science
The Museum of Science, Boston and AIR Worldwide, a Boston-based risk-modeling firm, are collaborating with Boston Public Schools to bring 300 students at six elementary schools Engineering is Elementary®, the award-winning curriculum created at the Museum's NCTL.

Museum's Gateway Project Builds Up STEAM...Literally

Two Massachusetts school districts -- Gateway participants -- are making news: Bourne High School unveiled a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) Innovation Studio, and Roslindale 8th graders are working on a Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art and Mathematics project building medicinal carriers.

USA Science and Engineering Festival Features Museum of Science

Invited by the National Science Foundation and American Psychological Association, the Museum of Science brought elements from both The Science Behind Pixar exhibition, developed by the Museum and Pixar Animation Studios, and the Living Laboratory® program to the U.S. Science and Engineering Festival, Washington, D.C. April 15-17.
