Interfaces: Virtual Humans, Real Friends

Building Blocks

The virtual humans that we see today in the "InterFaces" space at Cahners ComputerPlace are the result of over 50 years of artificial intelligence (AI) and computer animation research. Building a character that moves, speaks, listens, and thinks like a real person is actually the product of a number of disciplines in graphics, programming, and interaction that continue to evolve today. Ada and Grace are the latest in a rich line of virtual agents that each mark progress in combining these areas of AI.
